Fotona StarWalker PQX – Pico Laser Treatment for Pigmented Lesions

Pigmented lesions are quite common these days. It is due to melanin (brown pigment) appearing in small or large areas of the skin. It can in brown, black or even blue in colour. Although most often they are benign, they can appear to be very unpleasant to many people.

Picosecond lasers are pigment lasers that can effectively reduce pigmented lesions and scars. The “pico” in pico laser refers to a picosecond, which is a one-trillionth of a second. This pico technology can help with minimizing the damages to the surrounding areas with reduced downtime, while ensuring the melanin particles are broken down to small enough particles – resulting in more consistent and desired treatment results.

[The Process – How does Pico Laser Pigmentation Removal work?]

This process is completed in 3 simple steps:

  1. It targets the brown pigment or ‘melanin’ that are present in the skin of these spots.
  2. The pigment absorbs the laser’s energy and becomes scattered into tiny particles.
  3. Afterwards, it is then naturally eliminated by the body.

What happens during the Pico Laser Treatment?

Treatment of pigmented lesions are usually done in stages under topical anaesthesia, which is applied 30-45mins before the procedure. The aesthetic doctor will precisely target the pigmented area. When the laser hits the skin, it feels like a little prick. The pain is usually tolerable and short-lived.

How many treatment sessions will it take to remove pigmented lesions? – Based on the type of pigmented lesions and individual’s objectives, the aesthetic doctor will recommend the optimal number of treatment sessions required during the consultation session.
