OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS

Omega-3 fatty acids have many beneficial health effects. They have been shown to reduce the risk of heart attacks, reduce blood pressure and reduce cholesterol levels.

Omega-3 fats have also been shown to be anti-thrombotic and anti-atherosclerotic. Omega-3 fats also has beneficial effects on our brains and wellbeing. It is effective in preventing and treating depression and anxiety and may also help to prevent age related mental decline and Alzheimer’s disease.

Finally, omega-3 fats are also good for your skin as it can help keep skin cells healthy, preventing premature aging and acne and also help protect the skin from sun damage.

Omega-3 fatty acids consist of EPA, DHA and ALA. Most of the benefits
linked to omega-3 fats are from EPA and DHA, not ALA. Marine animals such as fish and krill provide EPA and DHA. These include sardines, salmon, herring, mackerel etc. It is recommended to take foods high in DHA and EPA omega 3 fatty acids 2-3 times per week.
