Acne is common in both adults and adolescents. It refers to the blockage and infection of pores in the skin. Pores contain glands that produce sebum. Hormonal imbalances often trigger the overproduction of sebum, which combined with dead skin cells and bacteria causing inflammation across the dermis. This leads to swollen, red acne that can become severe, painful, uncomfortable and can affect an individual’s self-confidence.

Fotona Laser Acne Treatment reduces acne inflammation by photo selective absorption and heating of overactive sebaceous glands. The power of the Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used to accelerate the healing process and reduces the possibility of developing new acne inflammation.
Fotona Laser Acne Scars Treatment is based on the precise and gentle skin resurfacing procedure using Fotona’s patented FracTatTM technology.
How does it work?
To treat active acne, the MaQX utilises long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser technology to target and destroy large overactive sebaceous glands including acne bacteria.
For acne scar revision, the MaQX laser has Fractional Picosecond Laser technology that is used to target acne scars by creating micro channels into the skin to plump up the depressed layers and release the pitted scar tissue. By removing the micronthin layers of skin, it allows new skin to form in its place as the laser gently vaporises the scarred surface. With this treatment fresh collagen is stimulated and scarred tissues is gently removed giving patients fresher, more even skin tone and texture.
What happens during the Laser Treatment?
Treatment of acne or acne scars are usually done in stages under topical anaesthesia, which is applied 30-45mins before the procedure. Your aesthetic doctor will precisely treat the targeted area. When the laser hits the skin, it feels like a little prick. The pain is usually tolerable and short-lived.
How many treatment sessions will it take to treat acne or acne scars?
Based on individual’s acne or acne scars conditions, your aesthetic doctor will recommend the optimal number of treatment sessions required during the consultation.
