What is Pro
The German-engineered Quadrostar Pro Yellow Laser is
an improved version of the commonly used Dual Yellow/Combination laser at some
clinics. Due to its special wavelength of 577nm, the Pro Yellow laser represents the gold standard for vascular treatments and epidermal
pigmentation treatments. It has been a huge hit since its introduction
due to its ability to target both pigmentation and underlying vessels for
Pro Yellow Difference
difference between the Pro Yellow laser and other skin rejuvenation lasers is
its unique wavelength. Compared to its predecessor, the Dual Yellow/Combination
laser, the Pro Yellow laser has a specific wavelength of just 577nm, instead of
a mixture of 532nm (green) and 577nm (pure yellow light).
wavelength of 577 nm means that the Pro Yellow Laser can be used to safely treat various conditions
such as pigmentation, rosacea, red
acne marks, uneven skin tone etc, as the wavelength of 532nm is
believed to leave Asian skin more susceptible to hyper-pigmentation.
How does the Pro Yellow
Laser work? Suitable to treat what condition?
Yellow laser is very versatile. It is used for a variety of conditions such as
pigmentation, facial flushing, acne treatment, post acne redness, skin
brightening and rejuvenation, etc.
lesions are caused by small, dilated capillaries. They can appear as red spots,
or visible threads on the skin. The Pro Yellow laser can readily treat them by
shrinking the vessels with its yellow light, with no damage to the capillaries.
- Facial veins and blood
vessels – Pro Yellow Laser has high rate of absorption in red
blood cells compared to any other lasers. Therefore, results in the
reduction of unsightly veins or blood vessels on the face, especially on
the cheeks and nose.
- Redness and rosacea caused by
dilated blood vessels - Pro Yellow
laser effectively reduces the size or eliminates these blood vessels;
resulting in reduced redness and an even toned complexion.
- Red marks formed due to
increased blood circulation at inflamed areas (moderate to severe acne) - Pro Yellow laser can effectively reduce
these red marks by reducing the blood vessels in these areas.
- Cherry angiomas, Telangiectasia,
Pigmentation & Skin
Yellow laser is the first laser that offers two options for treating
pigmentation and skin rejuvenation. The scanner handpiece for larger areas and
more diffused pigmentation, and the individual spot handpiece for targeted
- Pigmentation(melasma, sun/age spots, freckles) –
With unique wavelength, energy from the Pro Yellow laser is absorbed by
both melanin (pigments) and underlying blood vessels. This results in
breaking down pigments and reduces the blood supply to the skin cells that
produce these pigments. This will ensure longer-lasting results.
- Skin rejuvenation – Apart from reducing redness and
pigmentation, Pro Yellow laser’s energy is absorbed into the dermis (skin
layer) to treat and improve the skin’s support structure. Skin will look
brighter and feel tighter with just 1 treatment.
light energy from the Pro Yellow laser treats acne caused by P.acne bacteria by
killing these bacteria, and at the same time reduces redness caused by
inflammation. The Pro Yellow laser also shrink sebaceous glands that
produce sebum (oil).
Is Pro Yellow Laser safe? What are the
is very safe because the laser does not injure the outermost layer of the skin.
Side effects are minimal and may include redness and mild swelling. Most of
these will disappear within hours of the treatment.
What happens during the treatment?
After skin is
thoroughly cleansed, a topical anaesthesia is applied to minimize discomfort. A
laser-protective goggles are then placed over the eyes for protection. A yellow
laser beam is directed at the face, which destroys the Propionibacterium acne
bacteria and shrinks the sebaceous gland to reduce the production of sebum. The
yellow light also promotes collagen growth and reduces small red blood vessels.
This resulting an overall tightening, firming and rejuvenating effect on skin.
How long does each treatment take? Is
treatment session is about 45 minutes including preparation. Most patients
compare the feel of the laser to a tingling or prickling sensation like pins
and needles. Pro Yellow Laser is very well tolerated even without anaesthesia.
However, a topical anaesthesia may be used for patients that request it.
What can I expect after a treatment?
After a laser
session, the affected area might appear pink for up to an hour. Patients can resume their regular daily activities with no downtime.
How fast will I see the results, and
how many treatments will I need?
are gradual as clearer and healthy-looking skin is more visible after each
treatment. For best results, 6 treatments, spaced 3 weeks apart is recommended.
Thereafter, maintenance treatments can be done once every 2 months or as
